This book aims to provide reading materials
for teaching English to students of economics. The book is meant to develop
their critical reading skills on a variety of textual genres which they may
encounter in the course of their studies: textbooks, treatises, research
articles, news articles, and so on. The volume includes both a selection of
reading materials and three methodological chapters meant as an introduction to
critical reading. These are based on the assumption that EAP students should
reach beyond the general reading skills and strategies and develop a critical
awareness of the specific features of the discourse areas and genres they need
to tackle in their studies.
